MOSAIC / MOSAICScope Privacy Policy

This policy covers MOSAIC on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, and MOSAICScope on Android. These educational and laboratory applications communicate with compatible optical measurement and MOSAIC Pico 2 W oscilloscope, DMM, and TIA hardware.

Information We Collect

The developer does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal or instrument data through these apps. The apps have no developer-operated account, analytics service, or cloud measurement service. Files leave the app when the user explicitly exports or shares them with a chosen destination.

Hardware Communication and Measurement Data

The app may communicate with compatible MOSAIC hardware over local wireless connections, including Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, for measurement, device control, and data visualization purposes.

Measurement data generated during use is processed for operation of the app and is not transmitted to external servers unless explicitly initiated by the user through another service.

Wi-Fi Setup and Local Transport

During Bluetooth Wi-Fi setup, the network name and password are sent directly to the selected Pico through its paired setup session. They are not sent to the developer or an external server. In the Android app, the password is held only for the active setup attempt, cleared after success or when setup closes, and never written to app storage, logs, captures, or exports.

The Pico's current HTTP, TCP, and UDP measurement protocols do not use application-layer encryption. Use the hardware on a trusted local Wi-Fi network.

Local Storage, Retention, and Deletion

The apps retain instrument settings, device identity and address, calibration profiles, waveform captures, measurement logs, and experiment files locally as needed for the selected functions. The apps do not upload these records to a developer server.

Users can delete saved records through the app or the platform's file tools. Clearing Android app storage removes its private data. On iOS and iPadOS, deleting the app removes its private data; offloading the app retains it. On macOS, app data may remain after removing the application and can be deleted separately. Exported files and copies in a user-selected storage service must be deleted from that destination separately.

Android cloud backup is disabled for app data. Wi-Fi credentials and measurement files are excluded from Android backup and device transfer. A user-controlled Android device-to-device transfer may retain only the remembered Pico identity/address, calibration profiles, and credential-free saved instrument setup.

When the user shares or saves a file to another app or storage provider, that destination handles the file under its own privacy policy.

Tracking and Advertising

MOSAIC does not use third-party advertising, behavioral tracking, or advertising identifiers.

Device Permissions

The apps may request local-network, Internet, Bluetooth scan/connect, or other local-device permissions when required for hardware communication. These permissions are used for the requested hardware functions.

On Android 11 and earlier, Android requires location permission for Bluetooth Low Energy scanning. MOSAICScope does not read, store, or transmit the device's geographic location.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If future versions of MOSAIC introduce additional data collection or cloud-based services, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
